Congratulations to Laura Cummings, a teacher at Sunset Beach Elementary School in Haleiwa, she has been selected for the 2021 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship with Lindblad Expeditions and the National Geographic Society! As one of only 50 educators selected from across the U.S. and Canada, Laura is honored to be chosen for this professional development opportunity that will allow her to bring geographic and environmental awareness to her students and school community.
The Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship selects exemplary educators to embark on a life-changing voyage to one of the many remote and extraordinary environments the Lindblad fleet explores around the world. Given the ongoing pandemic and travel restrictions, her field-based experience is currently on hold. However, once conditions allow, she will embark on a Lindblad Expeditions’ voyage to experience natural wonders alongside an outstanding expedition team including marine biologists, geologists, historians, scientists, undersea specialists, and National Geographic photographers. Laura will return with compelling ideas to enhance her curriculum and is excited to translate her experience into learning opportunities for her students, colleagues, and community.
Laura’s passion for and dedication to teaching and learning has brought her to this moment, and she is incredibly grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
