This year the 2023 North Shore Hanapa‘a Jackpot fishing tournament was dedicated to one of the original coordinators and participants of the tournament, Uncle Gabby Gonsalves.
In a small gesture of appreciation and a huge mahalo for his dedication and contributions to the tournament throughout the past forty years, it was an extreme honor to dedicate this year’s tournament to Uncle Gabby’s memory.
A hui hou Uncle Gabby, mahalo for all the years of fishing tales, mana‘o and contribution to our community and tournament. You will never be forgotten. The buoy lineup will never be the same without you, but we know that you’ll always be there with us. Aloha Always!
This year the North Shore Hanapa‘a Club navigated its way through the often strenuous process and challenges in preparing for the tradition of the annual North Shore Hanapa‘a Jackpot Fishing Tournament. But in true fisherman form, we prevailed with dedication and commitment. We’re not big & flashy, definitely no frills but we have big hearts and strong dedication to our community and those who founded this tournament as we carry it on.
Mahalo to everyone who helped make this tournament possible … volunteers, sponsors and the North Shore community for your continued aloha for our tournament!
Biggest catch of the tournament
