Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms demonstrating flexibility, positivity in the face of setbacks, and creativity when it seems like the world has turned upside down.

One mother we would like to honor this year is Dr. Line Kruse, director of the Friends of the Library Kahuku. Dr. Kruse is a mother, professor, community leader, caregiver, and volunteer. During the initial COVID19 shutdowns when life seemed very unpredictable, Dr. Kruse doubled down on her commitments and held steady.

With Dr. Kruse’s organization skills and determination, the Friends of the Library Kahuku (FOLK) team was able to execute a grant just as businesses were shutting down in the spring of 2020. She and the FOLK board members got the job down within a tight timeframe against all odds. This work was done while she had new teaching responsibilities at work (transitioning to virtual lessons instead of in person assignments) and new teaching responsibilities at home (as her children needed to adjust to distance learning with new schedules and work habits).

Her energy levels never cease to amaze. She does what needs to be done and does it with a smile and good sense of humor. She truly is a Super Mom! Happy Mother’s Day, Dr. Line Kruse! We appreciate your heart and soul.
With aloha,
Tamara King, Branch Manager – Kahuku Public and School Library
