On Friday, June 18, 2021 our historic Hale‘iwa landmarks the Anahulu “Rainbow” Bridge and the Surf N Sea building were blessed and honored as we celebrated their 100th year birthdays.

The celebration of about 75 invited guests mainly with generational connections to the bridge and Surf N Sea began at Haleiwa Joe’s. Hawaiian music and a traditional blessing were followed by remembrances and proclamations presented to the North Shore Chamber of Commerce by our state and local officials.

Guests then strolled to the makai side of the bridge for photos. Imagine people viewing this photograph when the next centennial celebration of the bridge takes place in 2121.

A short walk to the Surf N Sea building followed with a reception on the lanai where guests enjoyed Joe Green’s music and a champagne toast to the next 100 years!

Many thanks to Roxana Jimenez and all the volunteers for a beautiful event. The celebration of these iconic landmarks will continue through the end of the year. Please visit www.anahulubridge100.com for information.
