Congratulations to long time North Shore resident and 1970’s pro-skater Kent Senatore. He was recently inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame at the 2021 ceremony held at the Vans Block in Costa Mesa, California. Kent was recognized by his peers for his innovation and style that has inspired countless skateboarders. Riding at the skatepark or in backyard pools, he was known for his backside laybacks, and stylish frontside air. He is probably best-known for skating loops in the iconic half-capsule Turning Point designed by his brother, Scott Senatore, which toured
cities across the US.

Kent’s friends will often describe him as a humble introvert, but if you chat with him at the local skatepark, his passion for skateboarding and storytelling will quickly emerge. You may see him dropping into the pool or offering tips of encouragement to the young beginners. Kent believes that skateboarding teaches valuable skills, such as self-confidence, patience, creativity, and perseverance. Life and responsibilities can pull you in many directions, but when you can, Kent says, “Just go out and ride your skateboard.”
