Approximately fifty North Shore Chamber of Commerce members and guests gathered at Haleiwa Joe’s on April 20 to network, receive news updates from community leaders, meet the new Chamber Executive Director Kelli Turansky, and vote in five new Board members. They are Lamont Brown, Maya’s Tapas and Wine; Layne Larsen, Kai Ku Hale; Mike Biechler, North Shore Law Offices (new Board Secretary); Nicolas Vargas Calvo, Notary; and Alan MacPhee, Kahuku Medical Center. Continuing Board members are Mary Wood, Resident (Board Chair); Carol Philips, North Shore Surf Girls (Board Vice-Chair); Marcia Murphy, Pacific One Mortgage (Board Treasurer); T.J. Cuaresma, Tita Ei Nei Productions; Thomas Naylor, Ke Nui Kitchen; Thomas Donavan, Turtle Bay Resort; Bill Martin, Island X; and Marianne Abrigo, Marianne Abrigo Properties. Executive Director Turansky announced Chamber events being planned over the next months. They include a Fourth of July celebration at Haleiwa Beach Park featuring a car show, robotics team event, vendor booths, and fireworks. A masquerade ball is planned in October with various Christmas events to follow. Social and networking events at various community locations and online are already scheduled to promote community pride and business development.
