On December 22nd, 2024 singer songwriter musician artist and professional surfer 28 year old Landon McNamara won the 11th running of the Rip Curl Eddie Aikau Invitational at Waimea Bay on O’ahu. It was Landon’s second participation in the Eddie and 7th overall invite. Winning the Eddie has been a lifelong goal for Landon and now a life changing moment.
On a postcard perfect Hawaiian Day, with thousands lining the beach, surrounding hills, and cliffs turning the picturesque bay into the greatest living arena in the world. This year’s Eddie set numerous records including 45 entrants and ultimately including 49 surfers having the opportunity to put on a jersey for the event. Doubling the number of contestants for any big wave riding event ever. Big wave riding is currently at its climax in the sport and the overall lineup for this year’s event featured a line up made up of a who’s who of both the top men and women in big wave surfing.
