In an effort to keep everyone safe, the Honolulu City and County Facilities Maintenance Department recently completed improvements to the Pupukea Bike Path . “NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES” signs have been placed along the path to remind everyone that the path is for manually-pedaled Bikes and Pedestrians Only. The Honolulu Police Department has begun
enforcement and anyone who is caught driving or parking a motorized vehicle on the bike path will receive a $97 citation. A “Motorized Vehicle” is classified as any vehicle powered by a motor, ELECTRIC or GAS. Golf carts, motorcycles, mopeds, e bikes, mini bikes, pocket bikes and electric scooters are all examples of a “Motorized Vehicle”.
The Facilities Maintenance Department has also begun repairing potholes and tree root bumps along the path. This is a long term project that will be ongoing. Parks Maintenance crews have recently provided some trimming and cleaning of the path in selected areas. The North Shore Outdoor Circle (NSOC) is hoping to establish a scheduled and consistent trimming and sweeping program so that the path is clean and safe for all users.
Our thanks go to Tyler Sugihara of Facilities Maintenance and Chris Sayers of the Parks Department for our safety improvements.
