North Shore NewsMalama Loko Ea Foundation (MLEF) held its first Fun Run fundraiser on Sunday March 18th. Over 300 participants ran/ walked the 8k coastal race along Haleiwa beach frontage. With special aloha to Kamehameha Schools, Parks & Rec and Haleiwa Harbor, Malama Loko Ea Foundation was able to secure a unique course for the runners. The event was sponsored by MLEF- Board of Directors as one of its fundraisers in 2018, with a goal of raising over $100,000 to purchase dredge equipment to dredge 400 year old Loko Ea fishpond. The organization is currently in the process of seeking permits to dredge the entire pond approximately 2 to 2.5 feet to restore it to functional health.
