Mrs. Edna Leialoha (Lei) Stewart, age 89 passed away at her home in Milton on June 3, 2021. Lei was born on Feb. 9, 1932, in Waialua , Hawaii. Lei was a professional Hula dancer, having gone on several USO tours in the 1950’s with Hilo Hattie’s Group. She was also a dancer at the Sands Club in Waikiki and was also a Stewardess for Aloha Airlines. When healthy, Lei was active in many bowling leagues in the area.
She is survived by her husband, of 54 years, James P. (Jimmy) Stewart, son Shay Johnson of Haleiwa, Hawaii, brother Douglas N. Gilman, Sr. of Hawaii, brother-in-law Clayton L. (Marilyn) Stewart of Pensacola, sister-in-law Betty Jane (Alan) Pounsett of Ontario, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Makamae.
Memorial Services over the ashes were held at the Trahan Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Fred Rogers and Rev. Robert Hornick officiating. Graveside Services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu on Tuesday, July 13, at 1:00 p.m. Nuuanu Memorial Park Mortuary is handling local arrangements.
