Halstead Mill, Waialua

The first sugar mill built in Waialua by the Halstead family in 1883. The family mill wasn’t in operation long, it is said that the mill was destroyed in a fire in the 1890’s leaving the sugar stack still standing. Sugar-cane workers cared for the sugar stack and kept it in good condition through-out the years. The Halstead sugar stack still stands off Kaukonahua Road near Kemoo Camp.
