North Shore NewsNorth Shore resident Jackie Levin had the opportunity to visit and work in Cambodia this past month. She is pictured here in front of Angkor Wat, Siem Reap at sunrise with the North Shore News! Normally this area would have thousands of visitors, however, due to Covid 19, Jackie and her daughter were the only ones there! Cambodia at this time was closed to tourism.
Jackie traveled to Cambodia to volunteer with an organization called Helpcode, a non profit organization which focuses on Childhood Drowning Prevention. Drowning is a hidden epidemic in Cambodia, due to a country with many rivers, canals, water vats, floating villages and rice paddies. Helpcode is trying to make a difference teaching Cambodian children to swim including training the entire family on survival swimming and safe water rescue.
