RECOGNIZE THIS LOGO?

Does anyone recognize the logo? It was found on a balsa board that surfboard shaper Randy Rarrick restored and no one remembers this logo or company. It has the address of Surf n Sea on it so Joe Green the owner for 50 years believes it is from surfboards that were built at the shop before it became a dive shop then surf shop. If anyone recognizes it and knows the background please email banzaib@hawaii.rr.com or leave a message at the Surf n Sea Shop for Joe Green!

ALL MAUI AFFAIR AT THE PEAHI CHALLENGE Local Maui surfers Ian Walsh and Paige Alms won the Peahi Challenge in excellent surf conditions. It was the second event of the Big Wave WSL season and back to back wins for Alms. Kauai’s Keala Kennelly earned a second place after breaking her board on her first wave. Kennelly was injured last year in the event. “I was a bit worried because I have not surfed any big waves since last year at Jaws. Then when I borrowed a board I had to adjust, the board was giant” she said back on Oahu. Walsh who was a wild card entrant for the event earned his first Big Wave Tour win and launched up to a third place overall ranking. Walsh in the semis caught what is being called one of the best waves ever ridden at Jaws. He had perfect positioning and pulled into a giant tube and scored a perfect ten point ride, one of two during the event. “This is a really big honor and I’m stoked that I can follow Billy (Kemper) and keep this thing on Maui,” Walsh said. The North Shore’s Makuakai Rothman was a stand out the whole event and placed third overall! Results Follow: Women’s Pe‘ahi Challenge Final Results:

RED BULL QUEEN OF THE BAY DOESN’T USE FIRST BIG SWELL? The Red Bull Queen of the Bay presented by Comfy Clothes, The Surf Bus, Renewal by Andersen Windows, Surf n Sea and Pakaloha Bikinis did not run on the first big swell of the season. Wrenna Delgado and myself decided not to call the event on for the first swell because of mixed reports of size. The Womens event needs big surf, around the 15-20 foot range. It was a difficult call three days before the swell arrived but a good call as waves did not appear until mid day and were very inconsistent. The next day saw dropping surf and bad rainy weather conditions. The forecast as of this writing looks weak so contest officials will be asking for an extension for the event. I want to thank all our supporters for this opportunity for the big wave ladies. Onward!
