These Superheroes are the kids of the Hoapili group of The North Shore. Hoapili (meaning “favorite friend”), is made up of kids who are striving to overcome challenges such as Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism, Anxiety, Visual Impairment, Intellectual Disability, Hearing Loss and ADHD to name a few. This group was created by Terra and Jeremy Daniel as a way to create positive experiences where these kids feel accepted, appreciated and recognized.
The Hoapili group has partnered with local North Shore non profit soccer and leadership program, The Mālama Football Club. The Mālama FC teaches our youth that they can achieve anything. With their team motto being “Sí se puede,” (Spanish for “you can do it!”), our community is realizing that our Hoapili players are teaching US this principle.
Coach Chuck from Mālama FC recounts a story. “Today, Footballer Liam asked what my spirit animal was. I told him a pack mule. He then asked, “but aren’t those stubborn!?” I said, “yes and maybe I am too.” Liam stayed positive (as he always does) and said, “oh no your not Coach Chuck you are cool!” A parent of the Hoapili group then followed up by saying, “Everyone is cool in Hoapili, pack mule or not. Everyone is equal and equally accepted.”
The Mālama Football Club is grateful for ANY charitable donation or lead to potential grants & sponsorships. We are currently accepting sponsor applications to support us during our Fall soccer and leadership camp of the Hoapili Group.
