The Waialua Robotics Team is excited about competing for the 1st time in 2 years in the FIRST Robotics Competition. The team has spent 6 weeks conceptualizing, designing, building and programming a robot for competitive play against teams from around the World. The team has signed up to compete in Port Hueneme, Ventura County, Hawaii at the Stan Sheriff Arena, Salt Lake City, and the World Championship in Houston, Texas.
Most recently, our team traveled to California to participate in back-back weekends of FIRST competitions. The team was very successful winning the Engineering Excellence Award, a Finalist Award, a Tournament Champion Award, and the overall best program recognition called the Regional Chairman’s Award. Our successes have earned us a spot to compete in the World Championship from April 20-23, 2022 at the George Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston, Texas.
Our team has qualified to compete in 13 straight World Championship events and look forward to participating after 2 years of no in-person events due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our team is comprised of many new students, during a rebuilding year caused by the FIRST Robotics program being cancelled for almost 2 years. However, our students have worked hard and have experienced much successes despite the challenges. We look forward to the rest of the season as we continue to improve and work harder.
