Principal Christine Alexander
Thank you to our community partners for all they do to support our school. Corteva (formerly Dupont Pioneer) and North Shore Christian Fellowship have been instrumental in providing us with manpower and monetary contributions throughout the school year. We are extremely grateful for their hard work and dedication! We are also extremely grateful for the relationship we have with our district Leaders. Representatives Lauren Matsumoto and Sean Quinlan joined us for School Breakfast Month. They engaged in conversations with students and faculty and enjoyed a healthy breakfast in our cafeteria. Thank you for visiting our school and getting to know our Bulldog Ohana.
Waialua High and Intermediate boasts many talented students. We are very proud to share that our very own Bulldog has been accepted into one of the most prestigious universities in our country – Anna Peters will be attending Harvard University in the fall! Congratulations Anna! More than half of our high school students have earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher and our graduating class consists of nine valedictorians. Way to go Seniors! The Intermediate Students worked tirelessly to increase their SBAC (state assessment) scores in the ELA (English Language Arts) area. Grade 7 students increased their score by 10 points and grade 8 increased their score by 15 points.
Many of our athletic teams have soared to new heights this year. Our softball team won the D2 OIA championship for the first time in ten years and placed third in the States. The Intermediate Boys
Soccer Team went undefeated this season, beating out many competitive teams in their division. The
following teams won the D2 Western Division Title: Softball, Girls and Boys Soccer, Boys Volleyball
and Boys JV Volleyball. Congratulations to all team sports on a terrific season!
Students at WHIS have enjoyed a variety of new music classes this school year. Piano, Polynesian Music and Percussions (Intermediate School) have all been added as new course options. Our School Band continued to amaze the community with their stellar performances throughout the school year. Some of their performances included Ala Moana Center Stage, Waialua Band Stand, the Homecoming Parade, the Christmas Concert, Kamakana Ali’i and the Aloha concert.
Finishing strong, Team 359 ended the FIRST Robotics season by qualifying for the World Championship quarterfinals and winning 69 out of 78 matches. Team 359 VEX IQ (Intermediate School) qualified two teams for The VEX IQ World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. Team 359B tied for 3rd in their division and both 359A and 359B ranked in the top 20% in robot skills competing against 400 teams from around the world.
I am extremely proud of everyone’s accomplishments and wish all our Bulldog families a safe and relaxing summer.
